Foundation Goals 2006 - 2007
Culinary Arts/Student Center Funding
In an effort to continue to meet the needs of a growing studentbody, the College is undertaking an expansion of the student services area, re-directing some space for the student center and providing the students a gathering place. The construction cost for this project is $500,000 funded through state funds. The Foundation is committed to providing an additional $100,000 for items not covered by the state funding.
The New Manufacturing Technology Building
The Foundation is positioned to respond to another major need for the Institution. Over the past few years, it has become apparent that the College had a critical need for additional space to accommodate manufacturing/high bay training facilities. The majority of the funding is begin requested during the upcoming legislative session with an additional $2 million coming from private donations generated by the Foundation.
Scholarship - Continual Needs
The Foundation continues to provide funding for financial assistance to accommodate requests for need-based funding, merit-based awards, and awards to high school seniors. In 2006-07, the Foundation is again committed to providing the necessary level of scholarship funding as identified by the College’s Financial Assistance and Scholarship Department. At this time, at least $100,000 will be allocated for scholarships and tuition waiver funding.
13th Annual Golf Tournament
The “Lucky 13th” DATC Foundation Scholarship Golf Tournament is planned for July 19th at the Bountiful Ridge Golf Course. The Foundation continues to strive for another record funding outcome from this event but there are some competitive pressures on contributions this year with several of the past contributors becoming major sponsors of the new Simmons Entrepreneurship Center. However, it is anticipated that at least 1/3 of the annual scholarship funding will be generated by this event.
