Instructor's Hours

Because DATC models a workplace, you work independently and are responsible for your own learning. However, please ask questions and get help whenever you feel confused! Asking questions helps you clarify problems and learn. Other students might have the same questions and this helps them as well. If you need to ask questions after class hours, come any day between 2:30 and 3:00, or set an appointment.

About the Instructor

Education:  I received both a bachelor's and master's degree in technical communication from Utah State University. I am currently working on my PhD in technical communication and rhetoric.

Experience:
I started my technical writing career at IBM where I worked for 2 years as a technical writer on teams developing networking software. I next worked at Iomega for four years as the senior technical writer. As part of my responsibilities, I designed the templates for online documentation and multi-media tutorials. I also was the project manager for all technical writing software projects. I've taught writing courses at DATC for the past 2 1/2 years.

Personal:
I have three boys (well, four if you count my husband) who fill my free time with soccer, trips to the zoo, and video games. To relax, I read any fiction I can get my hands on, but my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, and Wuthering Heights.
